NTN and KW traffic treats

Bike booking: This cyclist gets a hard lesson in road safety

New Territories North Traffic ran its cycling and pedestrian safety fortnight from September 24, reminding all to observe traffic regulations.

More than 200 accidents involving cyclists occurred in the Region from April to June, two were fatal and 33 caused serious injuries.

The two-phase operation focused on education and rigorous enforcement. Publicity leaflets were distributed at blackspots in Tai Po, Border, Yuen Long and Tuen Mun Districts while officers issued verbal warnings to reckless cyclists and pedestrians. Prosecutions were carried out in the latter part of the operation.

Meanwhile, Kowloon West Traffic and the Road Safety Patrol held a promotion day on September 24 in Shung King Street, Whampoa Garden, enhancing road safety awareness through exhibitions.

Police vehicles were displayed and visitors posed with them for photos before officers joined a bus parade to distribute road safety souvenirs on Nathan and Waterloo Roads.

Guests included KW Traffic Headquarters Superintendent Yeung On-leung and the Patrol's Leung Ka-kui, who presented certificates of appointment to a batch of new Patrol Supervisors.
