CPB paddles up their charity pool!

Cheque mates!: The poolside presentation

Crime Prevention Bureau officers raised over $180,000 in their annual swimathon September 30, $20,000 more than last year's achievement.

The 12-hour non-stop swimathon at the Police Sports and Recreation Club pool raised the cash for Against Child Abuse, with 2000 being the l0th Anniversary of the United Nation Children's Rights Constitution (UNCRC) coming into effect.

Some 21 officers swam almost 25 kilometres from 8 am to 8 pm, cheered on by about 45 kids poolside.

Crime Prevention Bureau Superintendent N. J. Nichols and Marine Regional Headquarters Superintendent (Administration) Simon Roberts presented the cheque to Against Child Abuse chairman Dr Gladys Lam. She thanked all participants and those who helped organise the day for their benevolent support.
