Road safety roundup

Road safety routine: These youngsters put on a song and dance at the Tai Po road safety carnival

Sham Shui Po District Commander Lung Hung-cheuk and Traffic Kowloon West Road Safety Section officers joined community leaders to distribute road safety leaflets and souvenirs on December 14. Verbal warnings were also given to people violating traffic regulations.

Meanwhile, a road safety carnival jointly organised by Tai Po District Community Relations Office and the Tai Po Road Safety Campaign Working Group was held in Fung Shui Square on December 10. A host of activities including a quiz, exhibition and cultural performance attracted over 6,000 visitors. Display boards with road safety messages have been erected in a number of housing estates in the District since December.

A road safety quiz for junior secondary students was also organised by Traffic Headquarters' Road Safety Unit and the Road Safety Sections of the five land Regions, between October 21 and January 6. Almost 1,600 students from 88 secondary schools participated.

The final was held at the Police Training School on January 6 with Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School taking out the top prize.
