NTN staff come CLEAN

Hold the soap, New Territories North officers are already CLEAN - Courteous at all times, Lead a healthy lifestyle, Efficient and thorough, Always treat people with respect, and Never compromise their integrity. The Region's CLEAN Campaign is its latest, and perhaps its best, idea for encouraging Force values and healthy lifestyles among its officers.

The slogan has been printed on pocket-sized calendars and stickers to remind officers of these values and to promote their image to the public.

Acting New Territories North Regional Commander Charles Wong Doon-yee said the scheme was not enforceable, rather it was intended to encourage officers to promote themselves as CLEAN and proud to follow the guidelines, instead of doing so out of fear of punishment.

"It is important that every officer has a common motto by which they can live and work, and we felt it should be something they would want to be recognised by, not something enforced upon them," Mr Wong said.

"It needed to be in a format which officers could easily carry with them at all times and even hand out to people. We felt the calendar was the best option. We have also produced stickers which can be put on dashboards, computers, notebooks and folders."

The suggestion came out of the Region's Anti-Corruption Working Group and officers were asked whether they would like to be seen as someone who upheld these values.

The slogans were posted on notice boards for opinions and Mr Wong said feedback was good with overwhelming staff support.

The CLEAN stationery would be distributed in the coming weeks.
