Mong Kok battle royale

Sweat shop: MK marathon on the basketball court

Mong Kok's formations battled it out in the District's first Inter-Unit Sports Competition, held December to February.

Eight teams competed in three events, namely the five-a-side indoor soccer, three-a-side basketball, and volleyball.

The teams comprised of MK's Four Patrol Sub-units, the Administration Division, Crime Division, Report Room and Special Duty Squads.

With just five principal players, Crime battled hard in the football and beat the Special Duty Squad during the first round of matches. In the second round, they were several goals behind when playing against PSU One - the latter team made up of quite a few District football representatives. However, with top team spirit they turned the game around and beat PSU One dramatically.

In the final match, Crime again faced the same situation, this time against a much stronger PSU Four who easily scored the early points, but Crime's determination pulled them through to take the title.

In volleyball, the competition between PSUs One and Four was equally thrilling. However, despite the latter team featuring the likes of the talented Inspector Li Hon-man and other excellent players, PSU One with its rather modest line-up stole the show with compact Sergeant Tsui Tak-huen skilfully neutralising fierce attacks from the opposition without his feet even leaving terra firma! He helped PSU One pocket the prize.

Meanwhile, in more exciting action, PSU Three took out the basketball series.

MK District Commander Ronald Fok Man-kwan presented the prizes on February 2.

The event was organised by MK Training and Staff Relations Officer Wan Yiu-fat with assistance from Senior Inspector Kwok Yiu-kwong, SIP Ngan Wai-hung and IP Li.
