Yam takes NTS run!

PC Yam receives his prize from RC NTS Mike Dowie, after crossing the line (top)

Police Constable Yam Chi-wai won the Seventh New Territories South Regional Police Officers' Mess New Year Fun Run on March 2.

The Ma On Shan Division officer finished the scenic six-kilometre route over MOS in 21'25", dethroning reigning champ PC Lam Chi-cheung (NTS Transport) who was first runner-up at 23'01", a whole minute faster than his time last year!

Second runner-up was Ho Ping-cheung in 23'22", with his fellow NTS Crime colleague Woman Sergeant Ko So-ying the first lady home in 30'49". The route was surrounded by lots of greenery with a couple of small streams nearby and a nice view of MOS New Town from its peak. However, many found the two-kilometre uphill climb too demanding. A new route may be studied for next year's event.

Although attracting a large number of participants, many keen runners were unable to take part as they were busy sprinting around Kwai Chung container terminals monitoring truckers in their protest slow-drive!

Regional Commander Mike Dowie presented the trophies in the Officers' Mess followed by a Super Happy Hour that soon put the lost flab back on. Sounds like another run coming up!
