Woven ties: DCP MAN Dick Lee receives the embroidered token from Chen Jiaao

Two elegant pieces of embroidery were presented to the Force by the Shanghai Public Security College on March 30, to say thanks for helping train their officers.

The vibrant pieces, each featuring a view of the scenic Shanghai skyline, were presented to Deputy Commissioner (Management) Dick Lee Ming-kwai and Police Training School Commandant Wong Pak-nin by College Commandant Chen Jiaao.

Mr Chen said the tokens were to thank the Force for its excellent organisation and wonderful hospitality that saw 30 officers from the College and other Shanghai police units attend two-week consolidated policing courses at PTS.

The surprise two-sided pieces were presented during the graduation ceremony for the third batch of Shanghai students at PTS.

Woven in a Suzhou style, intensive work by their dexterous craftsmen saw the pieces finished in 40 days, just in time for the ceremony, which also saw Director of Personnel and Training Robin Leung Fung-shun and Assistant Commissioner (Training) Yip Kwok-keung in attendance.

The course looked at the Force's training programmes and included visits to various formations. More exchange programmes would be arranged for officers of both forces. Mr Wong and a study team of 15 officers left for Beijing and Shanghai on April 22, for more constructive exchanges to promote understanding and co-operation between the two forces.
