Force holes third at Kau Sai Chau

Police swung home in third place in the inaugural Disciplined Services Golf Tournament at Kau Sai Chau on March 23.

Organised by the Police Golfing Society, the event was held on the South Course and saw five teams garnered from the Force, Independent Commission Against Corruption, the Immigration, Customs and Excise, and Correctional Services Departments, compete for the trophy donated by Commissioner and former Society Chairman Tsang Yam-pui.

Under overcast skies, some excellent golf was played throughout the day with a near hole-in-one at the fifth from C&E Assistant Commissioner David Tong Hin-yeung. Despite entering a very strong side, the Police team was only able to achieve third place, with Immigration filling the runners-up spot and Correctional Services winning the title by a large margin.

Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Douglas Lau Yuk-kuen presented the prizes and participants said they were looking forward to competing next year in an expanded competition including the Fire Services Department and the Government Flying Service.

  • Some 80 Junior Police Call members graduated from a six-month golf-training course on May 5. Organised by the Police Public Relations Branch and sponsored by the City Golf Club, the course promoted sports and health among the youngsters, and fortnightly sessions were held from December 2.

At the graduation ceremony, Senior Superintendent (Public Relations) Alan Fan Sik-ming thanked the members and the Club for their keen participation, and commended the trainees on their outstanding performance presenting 14 with Best JPC Golfer awards.
