- How to set up shortcut keys for punctuation

This time, I'm going to show you how to set up the shortcut keys for Chinese punctuation, such as the "Full-stop" and the "Comma" , so that the time for preparing Chinese documents can be greatly reduced. These simple steps are:

1. Launch MS Word 2000 from the shortcut bar.

2. Select "Symbol..." from "Insert" on the menu bar.

3. Select "(normal text)" in the "Font" field and then "CJK Symbols and Punctuation" in the "Subset" field in the "Symbol" tag of the dialog box shown.

4. Click to select the "Full-stop", which is in the 12th column (from left) of the 2nd row.

5. Click once on the "Shortcut Key..." button near the bottom.

6. Press the key and the < . > key simultaneously when the cursor is in the "Press new shortcut key" field of the "Customize Keyboard" dialog box.

7. Click once on the "Assign" button on the right.

8. Check to see if the assigned shortcut key is shown in the "Current keys" field.

9. Click the "Close" button to close the box.

10. Click again the "Insert" button of the "Symbol" dialog box to finish the setup.

You can now do the same for the "Comma". Just follow the steps above except when searching in Step 3 "Halfwidth and Fullwidth Forms" in the "Subset"field. In this case click to select the "Comma" in the 11th column (from left) of the 5th row in Step 4. In addition, please select another shortcut key for the "Comma" in Step 6, by pressing the key and the < , > key simultaneously.
