Wait green, engine off

Wong Tai Sin District Commander Ian Tyzzer joined Junior Police Call members in demonstrating their full support for the "Wait Green - Engine Off" Campaign by attending the launching ceremony at Tamar Site on September 1.

Some 200 drivers pledged to keep the air clean by switching off idling engines when stationary. Around 90 environmental protection ambassadors, including Sham Shui Po District Junior Police Call members, scouts and girl guides then distributed publicity stickers to drivers to adhere to their windscreens.

Mr Tyzzer, a member of the Force Steering Committee on Green Management, stressed that the Force fully supported the campaign and all Police drivers had already been instructed to switch off engines when their vehicles were stationary.

The campaign was jointly organised by the Environmental Campaign Committee, Environmental Protection Department, Transport Department, Government Land Transport Agency and Hong Kong Automobile Association.
