Force Byte - A new office helper

This time I will introduce "Microsoft ^º~¦r¨å1.0", which is English-Chinese dictionary software installed onto your Chinese Windows NT or 98 workstation during the Microsoft Office 2000 migration.

To operate it, please follow the steps below:

1. To open it select "^º~¦r¨å1.0" through the path "Start", "Programs" and "Microsoft ^º~¦r¨å1.0".

2. Click once on the "Microsoft ^º~¦r¨å1.0" icon () in the system tray located in the lower right-hand corner of the screen, and a query window will appear at the top of the screen.

3. Type your word(s) in the text-box furthest to the left and then press Enter or click the button (). The meaning(s) of the word (s) will be displayed in the text-box furthest to the right.

4. Close it by just clicking the right mouse button when the cursor is in the area between the two text-boxes of the window and then selecting "Exit" from the pop-up menu.

5. Click the "Yes" button in the "DICT" pop-up dialog box to confirm the action.

Very simple, isn't it? If you have any comments, tips to share with others or suggestions regarding subjects you would like to see featured in this column or ways of making the column more interesting, please forward them to me at:
