Enhanced international co-operation

Deputy Commissioner Operations Douglas Lau Yuk-kuen, leading a six-member Force delegation, visited Thailand and Singapore from September 9-15 to establish formal working relations with Royal Thai and Singapore Police Forces building upon existing ties.

Other members of the delegation included Assistant Commissioner Security Tang Hau-sing, Mong Kok District Commander Fok Man-kwan, Chief Superintendent of the Criminal Intelligence Bureau Lau Chi-keung, Superintendent Intelligence of the Narcotics Bureau Tsang Ka-kin and Chief Inspector Training of the Police Tactical Unit Headquarters Martin Cadman.

While in Bangkok, the delegation not only sought to formalise links with Thai counterparts but also focused on areas of mutual concern such as international crime. They also discussed policing strategies for major international conferences.

The delegation then departed for Singapore on September 12 for a three-day liaison visit. Besides formalising the working relationship between Hong Kong and Singapore Police Forces, both sides will discuss strategies and equipment employed for crowd management and internal security.
