  • A Chinese-language newspaper published an article on August 28 stating that manpower in Tin Shui Wai, Tseung Kwan O, Ma On Shan and Chai Wan was extremely insufficient, using the population in each of the divisions as a comparison. A letter was sent to the paper refuting the story. It was pointed out that population is only one of the many factors considered when deciding Police manpower in each division. In the letter it was also stressed that officers attached to the Police Tactical Unit, district traffic team and crime officers would also be deployed to divisions when necessary.

  • A Chinese-language newspaper carried a letter on August 27 regarding comments concerning injured police officers who needed hospitalisation.

A letter was sent to the paper on August 30 to elaborate on Force arrangements for police officers who were injured on duty.

Established procedures include welfare officers being sent to visit an injured officer. Funds will also be obtained from the Police Welfare Fund for purchasing reading materials and gifts for the officer.

In special circumstances extra medical funds will be allocated to help ease the officer's predicament. Compensation will be made in accordance with the Employees' Compensation Ordinance.

  • A letter was sent to a Chinese-language newspaper refuting an article published on September 4 alleging police officers had mishandled the situation surrounding a person collapsing in Siu Lung Court. It was pointed out in the letter that the woman was rushed to hospital after the arrival of police officers and an ambulance. However, as the informant did not report other incidents, Police did not consider it necessary to search the unit. It was stressed that Police had followed guidelines when handling this case.
