Fight crime carnival

The "Help People to Help Themselves" Fight Crime Programme 2001 kicked off on June 1.

A joint initiative of Wong Tai Sin Police Community Relations Office, Wong Tai Sin District Fight Crime Committee and Wong Tai Sin District Office, it is hoped that fight crime messages will be introduced to people from many different walks of life through a wide range of activities incorporated in the programme.

An innovation of this year's programme is the appointment of fight crime elderly ambassadors. 'Keep pace with the youth, keep them on the right track' is the fight crime slogan for this year. To reflect this, elderly people will join hands with the fight crime youth ambassadors in promoting and publicising the programme.

This year with the support of Lok Fu Estate Management Advisory Committee, Wong Tai Sin Police District held a fight crime carnival on August 24 at Lok Fu Shopping Centre. More than 2,000 guests were entertained with a variety of activities including games booths, drama and choral singing by fight crime elderly ambassadors, karate and taekwondo demonstrations by Junior Police Call members, a pop show and a magic show.

Wong Tai Sin District Commander Ian Tyzzer presented appointment certificates to all fight crime ambassadors while Kowloon East crime prevention officers shared their knowledge of burglary and fraud prevention with programme participants.
