With the launch of the Electronic Service Delivery Scheme by the Government in 2000, members of the public are getting used to conducting business transactions with the Government on-line.

In order to cope with the promotion of an e-Government, Central Traffic Prosecutions Bureau formed a working group last year to study the possibilities of making use of electronic means to settle fixed penalty payments. With the assistance of other departments and banks, technical and administrative problems have been solved and relevant regulations were amended.

Members of the public may settle payment of fixed penalty tickets (FPTs) with effect from November 1 by:

*Automatic Teller Machine (ATM)

* Payment by phone (PPS)

* Payment by Internet

Details of payment instructions are listed on the back of the FPTs.

In addition, Hongkong Post launched a 'PayThruPost' service for Government bills to replace the counter collection service currently provided by the Sub-Treasuries and New Territories District Offices on October 3.

In support of the Electronic Service Delivery Scheme, the existing Pol 525 & 570 forms have been revised to facilitate the e-payment option for members of the public. Please be reminded that the revised tickets will be used with effect from 12.01am. on November 1. All old forms will cease to be used from this date.
