Know your road safety rules

The New Territories North Regional Road Safety Campaign's Senior Citizens Cheering Team Creative Slogans Competition was held at Yuen Long Town Hall on August 31.

Guests included Yuen Long District Officer Tang Chi-leung, Senior Superintendent of Traffic New Territories North Wong Sek-pang and Social Welfare Department District Social Welfare Officer (Yuen Long) Au Tak-chiu.

Centres participating in the event were Pok Oi Hospital Mrs Wong Tung Yuen Multi-Service Centre for the Elderly; Yan Oi Tong Tin Ka Ping Social Centre for the Elderly; The Neighbourhood Advice-action Council Tin Shui Social Centre for the Elderly; Yuen Long Town Hall Management Committee Limited Mr Chan Ying Tsueng Memorial Social Centre for the Elderly; and Yuen Long Town Hall Mrs Leung Hok-chiu Social Centre for the Elderly.

The aim of the programme was to promote the road safety message to participants, to broaden their knowledge of road safety and how they could apply this in their daily life.

Participants put their heart and soul into the performance. The atmosphere at the competition was exciting for everyone, with the audience demonstrating their support in an enthusiastic round of applause especially when the colourfully dressed participants and musicians paraded on stage.

The programme was designed to draw the elderly's attention to road safety rules in the hope of reducing the number of traffic accidents.
