A three-day Learning and Development Exhibition will be held at the Police Sports and Recreation Club from November 23-25.
Deputy Commissioner Management Dick Lee Ming-kwai will officiate at the opening ceremony at 2 pm on November 23. During the exhibition, seminars and lectures presented by university professors and other well-known speakers, and experience-sharing sessions with officers who have attended overseas or Mainland training courses, will be held. The exhibition has been designed for all Force members, and for Junior Police Officers and newly appointed Inspectors in particular. Learning-related information, including how to avail yourselves of financial assistance offered by the Force and the Civil Service Training and Development Institute, will be available. Self-motivation, continuous learning, enhancing professional Skills increasing competitiveness and preparing for future challenges are slogans we are all familiar with. However, did you also know that there are numerous avenues available for you to increase your potential and worth in order to further develop and enhance your knowledge and skills to meet the latest service requirements? Booths staffed by Training Development Bureau, Training Division, Information Technology Training Centre, Visual Aids Section, Continuation and Promotion Division, Police Driving School, Detective Training School and Weapons Training Division will provide information regarding internal and external learning opportunities. There will also be booths operated by the Police Tactical Unit and Police Negotiation Cadre of Operations Wing, Identification Bureau, Commercial Crime Bureau, Child Protection Policy Unit, Witness Protection Unit and Criminal Intelligence Bureau of Crime Wing, as well as the Marine Police Training School. In addition, Hong Kong University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Open University, City University, University of Science and Technology, Baptist University and the Vocational Training Council will provide relevant information on continuous learning and police job-related diploma and degree training courses at their respective booths. The Civil Service Training and Development Institute will also be there to introduce its tailor-made training courses for civil servants, the three-year Training and Development Programme for Civil Servants and the Cyber Learning Centre programme. The opportunity to receive an attendance certificate from the St. John's Ambulance Association on completion of an on-the-spot basic first-aid training course will also be available. Internet access services to information on internal and external training courses, as well as e-learning opportunities will be provided at booths manned by the Visual Aids Section, the Information Technology Training Centre and other participating units. The exhibition will also include a variety of quiz games as well. Souvenirs, such as historical photos, will also be available. If you feel like testing yourself with something more physically challenging, a rock-climbing wall situated at the exhibition will be beckoning and will be one of the more interesting activities for you to consider. We guarantee that you will find many things of interest at the exhibition while also having a fabulous time.
