A remembrance ceremony for members of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) and the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) who gave their lives in the line of duty was held at Police Headquarters on October 27.
While honouring the memory of those officers who sacrificed their lives in the service of the people of Hong Kong, Commissioner Tsang Yam-pui made special reference in his speech to the tragic deaths of Police Constables Ng Pak-ming and Leung Shing-yan, once again expressing deep condolences to their families on behalf of the HKPF and HKAPF. The two constables were killed on Tuen Mun Road, during an investigation of a traffic accident on November 18 last year, and in Lei Muk Shue while responding to a call on March 14 this year, respectively. Mr Tsang also took the opportunity to once again express the Force's sincere condolences to fellow officers in the New York Police Department, which suffered terrible losses during the tragic events in Manhattan on September 11. After the speech and two minutes silence, Mr Tsang laid a wreath under the memorial stand located near the entrance to Caine House at the Police Headquarters. Other wreaths were placed by Commandant of the HKAPF Kwok Chi-shun, and representatives of various police formations and associations.
