Have you experienced difficulty in researching information about new laws to prepare for promotion board interviews or examinations? Or do you have doubts about police powers in the execution of duties?
The "Law Infostation", a new web site on POINT developed by the Manuals Division, is now there to answer your questions in either English or Chinese.
In the "Law Infostation", the Manuals Division provides a gist of new ordinances, legislative amendments and bills enacted or introduced in the past six months relating to police duty. The web site summarises the major elements of new laws and new bills.
Users can also quickly access and view the full text of the new ordinances or bills on the Government Gazette web page by clicking on the hyperlinks. Background reference information of the legislation is also provided so that officers can gain thorough understanding about the spirit, background and purpose of the new legislation.
In addition, the site features a list of commonly used police powers. With the corresponding hyperlinkage to the relevant section on Bilingual Laws Information System (BLIS), officers can easily access information on police powers and the relevant laws.
Furthermore, hyperlinkages are available to link to the "Criminal Appeal Bulletins" web site maintained by the Department of Justice and the Regional web sites pertaining to special prosecution cases. This web site provides one-stop service that allows officers to quickly and easily access other web sites containing appeal cases, and cases of interest in court trials.
Chief Inspector Manuals Chan Yuk-chun, developer of this new web site, said: "Officers handling their daily duties and preparing for promotion interviews will substantially benefit from this web site by the quick and easy reference to the new laws, legislative amendments as well as police powers."
"Striving for excellence, the Division will continue to improve and enhance the services provided in the web site," she added.
