A team sent by the Police Hockey Club to play in an international competition in Bangkok has achieved one win and four draws in matches with other teams in the E Division.
The Police Hockey Club took part in the 29th Annual Royal Bangkok Sports Club Hockey Festival held for three days starting on November 30, last year, with 65 teams from Thailand and other places participating.
A spokesman for the hockey club said that although no trophies were brought back, the results of the matches were encouraging because many of the players were quite new to the sport. The spokesman said the club had also entered two men teams to play in the fifth division of the Hong Kong Hockey Association League during the September 2001 to May 2002 season. So far, the teams have succeeded in remaining among the top five teams in the fifth division. The club has also entered a ladies team in the women's league . It is doing exceptionally well and is currently placed third among 11 teams in the Fourth Division. All Force members are encouraged to join the Police Hockey Club. Men interested in taking up the sport may contact Eddie Law at 9412-6989 or Stanley Yim at 9777-6006, and ladies wishing to join the club should contact Ruby Wong Mei-lin at 9740-7600.
