The New Territories South Regional Headquarters Family Day 2001, recently held in Ma On Shan, was a roaring success.

With excellent weather and lush surrounding, the function attracted over 600 participants all of whom were members of the Regional Headquarters and their families.

New Territories South Deputy Regional Commander Tang Kam-moon delivered the welcome speech and drew the winning tickets in a lucky draw.

The theme of the party was "Stand by me", a message the organising committee hoped would encourage colleagues to show more "love, care and support to each other."

Events for the day included a Police dog show, a Robotcop exhibition, a magic show, and 'paint your face', karaoke and beer/soda drinking contests.

In addition, Lantau District Commander D M Cartwright drew cheers and applause when he demonstrated his prowess with a saxophone. Mr Cartwright then discarded his instrument and enchanted his audience by singing a ballad in Putonghua.
