A total of 43 Police dog handlers and their canine "colleagues" took part in the seventh Annual Police Dog Trials held on March 10.

The competition, which was held for the first time at the Police Sports and Recreation Club, attracted thousands of Force members and their families.

The annual trials are organised to help strengthen co-ordination between dog handlers and their dogs, boost efficiency as well as enhance handlers' confidence and professional standard.

Participating teams competed in various events including attack drills and obedience test in three categories - novice, open and advanced.

Police Constable Chan Ping-fung of EU NTN and his dog Po Po won the advanced category championship. Police Constable Lee Kam-lun with Finn from EU NTN and Senior Police Constable Leung Kin-sun with Jordan from Kowloon City District were the champions in the open and novice categories respectively.

Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Fok Man-kwan; the Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal, the Hon Mr Justice Bokhary; and Executive Director of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, Brigadier Christopher Hammerbeck officiated at the prize presentation.
