The Police Rugby Club hosted the Annual Bill Riach Sevens Competition at King's Park on February 16.

The tournament, named after an ex-Police rugby stalwart, comprised three competitions; the Bill Riach Trophy (2nd Division), the Braithwaite Cup (4th Division) and the Women's Rugby Trophy. A total of 20 teams participated.

Spectators were treated to a feast of exciting rugby in the abbreviated form, witnessing a good effort from an ever ageing and heavy Police 1 team being eclipsed by the brilliance of the second string, the Police Panthers, capably led by Sergeant Louie Tam Chiu-yin.

Whilst Police 1 made a good showing in the main competition, it was the DeA 1 which took the trophy. The Police Panthers made their mark by winning the Braithwaite Trophy in the 4th Division competition, receiving the trophy from CSP Peter Burbidge-King, a previous Police Rugby Club Chairman and Hong Kong Rugby supremo.

The Women's Rugby Trophy was won by Causeway Bay Women team.

Fierce fight for victory
