Leung Shing-yan

Mr Leung is posthumously awarded the MBS in recognition of the gallantry
of an extremely high order he displayed while performing duty in Tsuen
Wan. On March 14, 2001, Mr Leung, a Police Constable, who was attached to
the Patrol Sub-Unit of Lei Muk Shue Division, was deployed to the Shek Wai
Kok Estate to investigate into a noise complaint. At the scene, he was
shot five times. His service revolver and speed loader were also found
missing. Investigations indicate that the officer was engaged in a
vigorous struggle with his assailant(s) in an attempt to retain control of
his firearm and effect a lawful arrest. In attempting to subdue his
determined and vicious assailant(s), Mr Leung has shown excellent courage
and the noblest quality of a public servant.
