Last month, Department of Justice Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Robert Lee, gave a presentation on 'The Investigation of Money Laundering Activities and Legal Professional Privilege' to more than 80 Crime Wing officers of inspectorate rank and above.

Enactment of the Anti-Terrorist Measures Bill and the Drug Trafficking & Organised Crime Amendment Bill prompted this knowledge-sharing session. Mr Lee briefed the officers on the legal restrictions and requirements in handling materials of legal professional privilege and gave some practical advice.

"As officers in charge of an investigation you must think strategically in invoking the powers given under the new legislation," said Mr Lee in conclusion.

Acting Assistant Commissioner (Crime), Mr Victor Lo, said "It was a most enlightening session and will greatly assist officers investigating cases of this nature."
