In preparation for the new school year, Traffic Branch Headquarters organised a late-August 'Road Safety Towns Open Days' at Sau Mau Ping, Sha Tin, Tuen Mun and North Point, to enhance road safety awareness among students and their parents.

More than 3,000 people heard road safety talks and took part in stall games, road safety colouring games and handicrafts.

Elsewhere, on August 30, in New Territories North Region, the Road Safety Campaign Committee organised a 'North District Senior Citizen Cheering Team' competition to spread the road safety message among elderly residents.

Taking part in the competition were six teams from the district's elderly centres.
