About 20 junior Police officers and 400 Junior Police Call members won bronze medals this year under the Hong Kong Award for Young People (HKAYP) scheme.

During the presentation ceremony at the Police Sports & Recreation Club, both Deputy Commissioner (Management), Mr Lee Ming-kwai, and HKAYP Award Council Vice Chairman, Professor Wong Chack-kie, congratulated the awardees and praised them for their outstanding achievement.

"By making good use of their spare time," observed Mr Lee, "these young people have not only benefited from personal development but have also become valued members of society."

The HKAYP is part of an international project to cultivate the best in young people through balanced development based on participation in activities such as practical skills training, community services, expeditions and physical recreation.

The ceremony also saw instructors receiving Certificates of Appreciation from Assistant Commissioner (Training) Mr David Thomas. Some of them were serving Police officers while others were volunteers from different sectors of the community who assisted in organising training courses for the Award.
