On October 23, Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) and Chairman of the Hong Kong Police Information Technology Society, Mr Peter Halliday, will give a presentation entitled The development of information technology in the Hong Kong Police Force. The presentation will start at 4.30 pm in the Police Sports & Recreation Club Conference Room.

The Force started utilising information technology, in earnest, in 1995. In the intervening period a large number of applications have been rolled out and the Force is now one of the most technologically advanced police forces in the world. There are ambitious plans for the future.

Peter has headed the Information Systems Wing since 1996 and is in a unique position to take you on a voyage of discovery into: where the Force has come from; where the Force is now; and where the Force wants to be, in terms of information technology.

The presentation will be of value to those who wish to improve their professional knowledge in this area. It will be accompanied by slides, copies of which will be available.

In accordance with the Society's policy of improving the standard of English within the Force, the presentation will be made in English (in an easy-to-understand form, customised for non-native English speakers). Cantonese translations will be provided for difficult terms.
