Putonghua for non Chinese-speakers

In alignment with the Government's policy to develop a bi-literate and tri-lingual civil service, the Training Wing Training Development Bureau has made a pilot purchase of 15 sets of a Linguaphone Putonghua Self-learning Package (Basic Level) for use by non Chinese-speaking regular police officers. 10 sets are in the Force Library and 5 sets in the Police Training School Library. Each library will retain one set for officers to use while the other packages can be taken out on loan from October 9.

Contents: Chinese Grammar, Chinese Characters, Pinyin, The Sounds of Chinese, 28 lessons and an Alphabetical Vocabulary. Level: Basic level for non Chinese-speaking beginners. Target: Non-Chinese speaking regular police officers. Terms: Linguaphone Ltd recommends one to two hours of practice a day in order to finish the whole package within nine to ten months. The package will be on loan for one year. Extension is possible.

Library opening hours: Force Library - Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm; and, PTS Library - Monday to Friday 9 am to 12.30 pm; 1.30 pm to 5 pm.
