The Force 'Matilda Hospital Sedan Chair' Racing Team is going for a record tenth consecutive victory this year, and the Team is desperately trying to raise sponsorship money. This key charity event is taking place at the Matilda Hospital, Mount Kellet Road, the Peak on Sunday November 17, starting at 10 am.

The race was first held in 1975, and since then over HK$30 million has been raised for Hong Kong's needy charities. As a 'fund-raising' incentive, the Police Team Captain, Senior Inspector Simon P Southgate has agreed to shave his head bald if the team receives over HK$20,000 in pledges.

This gruelling event requires a team of 8 persons to carry a sedan chair, with a person sat in it around a 3.2 km course. The Team is currently training hard and hopes to maintain its unbeaten record. But this is more than an athletic event. It is a chance for everyone to help a large number of worthy causes. Please support the Team's effort and sponsor them. Every bit counts!

If you do wish to sponsor the Team please write to SIP S.P. Southgate, PTU HQ, giving your rank and name, posting, amount pledged. Attached cheques should be made payable to 'Matilda Charities Fund.' Please mark the envelope 'Sedan Chair Race'. Donations exceeding $100 are tax deductible and receipts will be issued.
