Have you ever experienced difficulty searching for Force orders, policies, guidelines, legal advice, and training material, in relation to personal data privacy while handling data access request? For most officers, particularly Formation Data Administrators, the answer would normally be affirmative. In order to improve the service in this regard, the latest Force's Data Privacy Database under Knowledge Management has been launched.

Force Data and Access to Information Coordination Chief Inspector Mr Joseph Au describes the improvements made.

"Apart from the use of the search engine to search for the latest Force policies and guidelines relating to the handling of personal data privacy issues,"said Mr Au, "users may also browse other relevant columns, for instance, "Case Histories' ; 'Code on Access to Information' ; Formation Data Administrator's Handbook, and answers to frequently asked questions relating to the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. Users, in particular Formation Data Administrators, Major Formation Data Coordinators, District Access to Information Officers and Major Formation Access to Information Officers are encouraged to visit the database."

He also said the 'Equal Opportunities' database is also ready for use under Knowledge Management menu. Both databases are accessible via POINT from Home and are subject to regular updating by him as the Content Manager. If assistance is required Mr. Au can be reached at 2860-3759.
