A ceremony to pay tribute to all members of the Hong Kong Police Force and Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force who have given their lives in the line of duty was held at the Police Headquarters on the morning of October 15. Commissioner, Mr Tsang Yam-pui, and representatives from major formations and associations honoured the memory of the officers, both Regular and Auxiliary, who, whilst performing their sworn duty, have given their lives in the service of the people of Hong Kong.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Tsang said that the Force has a long and proud history and has successfully confronted many challenges in the past 158 years. "This success can be attributed directly to the dedication and fortitude of all those who have served past and present," he said.

After observing a two-minute silence in memory of the all the police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, Mr Tsang laid a wreath on behalf of the Force at the Memorial Books near Caine House of the Police Headquarters. Other wreaths were laid by the Commandant of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force, Mr Kwok Chi-shun, and representatives from major Police formations and associations.
