Keeping abreast of learning opportunities |

The Learning & Development Exhibition 2002 has been scheduled for November 22, 23 and 24 at the Indoor Games Hall of the Police Sports & Recreation Club. An introduction to the Exhibition was carried in the previous issue of OffBeat.
Training Wing Support Division Superintendent, Mr Victor Yiu Kai-bor, told OffBeat that additional posters publicising the event would be distributed Force-wide over the next few days. He urged everyone to keep an eye open for them.
"I hope all members of the Force will attend the exhibition," said Mr Yiu, "because it will have something for everyone interested in lifelong learning. There are opportunities in developmental learning directly related to your constabulary duties and others that simply provide 'personal development' opportunities useful in off-duty hours and in retirement.
"Visitors - Force family members are welcome - will be 'informed and entertained' by 12 Force exhibitors and 12 guest exhibitors (mostly academic) occupying a total of 43 x 6 sqm booths," he promised.
Woman Chief Inspector, Ms Christine Wong Suk-ching, told OffBeat that: "The Information Technology Training Centre, for example, will have lots of information on computer training courses and other computer-based learning opportunities."
The Learning Support Division will have some very interesting information on a variety of reimbursement and attachment schemes for targeted groups and will distribute copies of 'Learning Key' and literature from participating academic institutions.
The Learning Support Division will also coordinate the booth on 'Media Training' to allow volunteers to experience a live media interview in a simulated studio in the booth.
"The Physical Training Section is able to conduct a standardized 'Fitness & Health Evaluation' as well as providing information and details on all physical training opportunities available. The Weapons Training Division has a mock upgraded mini-range where, under supervision, visitors can practice 'decision making training' using a laser gun. A wide range of weapons will also be on display.
"The Psychological Services Group will be there to emphasise the importance of knowledge and training in 'Psychological Competency in Police Work' and to provide information on local and overseas training opportunities," Ms Wong concluded.
