The Learning & Development Exhibition 2002, which is to be held on November 22, 23 and 24 in the Indoor Games Hall at the Police Sports & Recreation Club, was first introduced in OffBeat Issue 738, a follow-up article about the exhibitors and exhibits appeared in Issue 739, and in this issue we cover the seminar programme. In-Service Training Bureau (ISTB) Chief Superintendent, Mr Paul Hung Hak-wai, told OffBeat that the seminars accompanying last year's exhibition were well-attended and well-received. "I am confident that our programme for this year will prove even more interesting, inspiring and informative," said Mr Hung. "Of course, it should be remembered that ISTB holds seminars throughout the year in response to the changing needs of Force members and society generally. But we have deliberately scheduled seminars on Psychological Competency Training and Media Relations Training to take place during the Exhibition because this is their first year there. There will be exhibition stands addressing those subjects." |

A major seminar on 'Understanding the Criminal Mind' features four prominent experts in the psychological field. "We will have seminars presented by the Singapore Police Psychologist, Mr Jansen Ang; Castle Peak Hospital Forensic Psychiatrist, Dr Choy Wing-kit; Correctional Services Department Criminal Psychologist, Ms Nancy Chan, and Society of Rehabilitation & Crime Prevention member, Superintendent Mr Denny Cheng See-hing," Mr Hung enthused. In all, there will be 24 seminars covering a wide range of topics and some experience sharing seminars involving members of the Force and members of a selection of non-governmental organisations. For those officers attending four or more Seminars/Experience Sharing Sessions, their PICS record will be endorsed. "The programmes are too fabulous for words," concluded Mr Hung. The organisers guarantee that you will find many things of interest at the exhibition and have a great time. "I hereby urge you all to attend this informative exhibition so as to learn more about the present internal and external learning opportunities and keep yourself abreast with time. Don't forget that your family members are also welcomed." For more information, please go to the web-page of 'Learning & Development' at Learning Portal of Training Wing via POINT. |
