Shredding of obscene and pirated VCDs

In order to demonstrate the determination and dedication of the Force in combating the sale of obscene and pirated VCDs, the Sham Shui Po District held a 'Shredding of Obscene and Pirated VCDs Ceremony'late last month.

The Acting District Commander, Mr Iain Tse Ho-yin, speaking at the ceremony, noted that in the first 9 months of this year, the number of seizures of such VCDs and the number of related arrests made, showed a 30 per cent increase over the totals for the whole of last year.

He said: "Joint operations against the selling of pirated and obscene VCDs will be conducted with the Customs and Excise Department whenever the situation warrants it."
