Joint ventures, in the name of the law!

Specialisation has become the rule for mankind. No one person can hope to know everything there is to know, let alone have the skills to do everything there is to do. We get around the problem of knowing more and more about less and less by forming teams to get the right 'mix' of talents to handle complex projects and solve complex problems.

Criminal activities by one person or a gang are no longer confined to one geographical area or to one type of crime. The criminals' modus operandi is ever more sophisticated and the tools used ever more high-tech. And that is why it is increasingly necessary for law enforcement agencies to co-operate at local, trans-national and global levels.

In this issue, OffBeat features three joint ventures in which the Force has co-operated with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), the Security & Futures Commission and, overseas, with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
