The Hang Seng Bank sponsored 'Help the Police Fight Youth Crime Competition 2002' is winner of the current year's Asia-Pacific Public Relations Week Awards. The award is in recognition of the professionalism and outstanding performance shown in public relations activities organised by companies throughout the region. The Hang Seng Bank and Hong Kong Police project was one of more than 200 considered for the annual award. Commenting on the achievement, the Police Public Relations Branch Senior Superintendent, Mr Fan Sik-ming, said: "We are most delighted that the 'Help the Police Fight Youth Crime' competition won the award and are most grateful to the Hang Seng Bank for the continuous support it has given to the Force and the community. "Moreover, the undoubted success of the campaign itself has demonstrated, once again, the importance of closer ties between Police and the public," Mr Fan stressed. This year's competition, which was open to primary, secondary and tertiary students, as well as school-family units, attracted over 110,000 entries - the highest number ever for a single crime prevention competition organised by the Force. The winners of the competition - 11 students, two parents and a teacher - formed a delegation of fight crime ambassadors to New Zealand and Australia in early August. The trip offered them a rare opportunity to learn about the day-to-day work and fight crime tactics of the Kiwi and Aussie Police Forces.
