Enhancing security in the logistics sector |

To raise security and crime prevention awareness, Airport Police District and the Crime Prevention Bureau organised a Logistics Security Seminar, in late November, for over 70 people working in the logistics sector. United Parcels Services Asia Pacific Regional Security Manager, Mr Daniel Cheung, who has been in the cargo security business for over 10 years and holds a professional diploma in security management from the United Kingdom's Leicester University, was invited to speak. There have been rapid developments in the logistics industry in recent years. Transportation of goods and services is one of Hong Kong's main contributors to the economy. It also helps Hong Kong integrate with industry throughout the Pearl River Delta Region and this has great potential for future economic growth. The consensus among those attending was that the seminar had fully met its three main objectives: (1) to remind all of the importance of security; (2) to share experience in order to improve security and prevent crime, and (3) to establish channels of communication helping all stakeholders work together to ensure the healthy development of the logistics business.
