In mid-December, the Police Tactical Unit was visited by five members of the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC): Mr Kwan Chi-ping, Professor Shek Tan-lei, Mr Daniel Cham Ka-hung, Dr Charles Koo Ming-yan, and Mr Wan Suet-ming. IPCC Secretary Mrs Annie Leung also took part in the visit.

During the visit, they were given a briefing on the PTU structure, role and training. The visitors also saw demonstrations of crowd management and control tactics, and anti-riot equipment.

They also attended a lunch discussion hosted by the Director of Management Services, Mr Yam Tat-wing.

Accompanying the visitors were Commandant, Police Tactical Unit, Mr Au Hok-lam, and Complaints & Internal Investigations Branch Chief Superintendent, Mr John Lee Ka-chiu. The visit was organised by the Complaints & Internal Investigations Branch as part of a programme to further enhance IPCC members' understanding of frontline policing.
