The 26th Police Mountain Marathon, organised by the Police Adventure Club (PAC), was successfully held on the weekend of December 14 and 15. Some 200 officers (including checkers and officials) spent two days and a night in the Sai Kung Country Park. Chief Superintendent Mr Tsang Wai-hung signalled the start from Pak Tam Chung early on Saturday morning. The 83 pairs of competitors got off to a good uphill start and, after a 30 km run, 67 pairs made it to the overnight campsite at Shui Long Wo by the 8.30pm deadline. The following day 60 pairs started at 8.30am and, after a further 20 km run, 50 pairs made it to the finish at Sai Kung Police Station - all feeling immensely proud of their good team work, high physical ability and orienteering skills. The winners were: Men's Open - Chan Kin-kwok and Law Woon-kam (12.01 hours); Seniors - Ip Kam-man and Tsoi Fu-loi (12.35 hours); Ladies - Cheung Ngar-sze and Ho Kit-ying (14.28 hours) Experienced - Yeung Chi-kuen and Wong Wai-kin (6.51 hours), and Invitation - Lok Wai-keung and Chan Kwok-hung (14.44 hours). New Territories South Regional Commander and Chairman of the Police Sports Council, Mr Mike Dowie, congratulated all runners for their dedication to a healthy lifestyle and presented trophies to the winners and runners-up in each of the five categories. PAC Chairman, Chief Inspector Mr Li Hong-man, thanked all the officials, referees and checkers for volunteering their time and effort in organising a most successful event.
