Records smashed in Force Annual Swimming Gala

The annual Force Swimming Gala was held at the Shing Mun Valley Swimming Complex in late November. It comprised 39 events that attracted more than 200 participants.

The Police Swimming Club introduced a new competition this year: The Inter-Secondary School Relay. Eight schools in the Hong Kong Secondary School Division One were invited to participate in the competition. La Salle College won the event. The traditional 'family competitions' were held as usual.

A total of seven records were broken including: Men's Back Stroke 50m; Free-Style 100m; Senior Women's Free-Style 50m; Butterfly 50m; Breast Stroke 100m; Men's Free-Style Relay 4x50m, and the Medley Relay 4x50m.

Deputy Commissioner (Management), Mr Fung Siu-yuen, presented trophies to the winners.

There were double winners in the Men's Overall Individual Champion Trophy: Police Tactical Unit Headquarters (PTU HQ) Recruit Police Constable Mr Ho Wai-shun and Senior Inspector Mr Chan Sze-tat. By smashing the record of the 50m Butterfly Style, Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) Woman Senior Inspector, Ms Chan Sin-nga, Women's Overall Individual Champion Trophy. PTU HQ won the Men's Overall Formation Champion Trophy.

Led by CCB Chief Superintendent, Mr Wong Fook-chuen, who is also the Chairman of the Police Swimming Club, CCB won the Women's Overall Formation Champion Trophy and The Best Supported Formation Trophy. CCB also shared the trophy of the Best Cheering Formation with Marine Region.
