A multi-national online games company, NC Gamania Co Ltd, presented banners to officers of the Kowloon West's Technology Crime Unit in appreciation of their efforts in combating the first local case involving the stealing of online games 'virtual items' on the Internet.

Senior Superintendent Mr Ip Wai-keung, Superintendent Mr Cheung Kwai-kee and Senior Inspector Mr Lam Chi-yuen received the banners at the presentation ceremony.

In last July, a victim complained to the Police saying that 'virtual items' and 'virtual cash' under his Internet account were hacked and stolen. In order to tackle this complicated case, officers spent two months painstakingly going through a huge amount of material - there were 75,000 pages of documents and searched at various locations before the culprits were brought to justice.
