Kung Fu Night raised $37,000

Saturday, March 1, was the date for a very special new evening on the POC social calendar -the first 'Kung Fu Night'! A packed TSK Hall enjoyed a Chinese banquet, the stirring sounds of the Police Band, and then gasped as the members of the Heng Yue Yen Long Kwon Association (HYYLK) displayed their board-breaking, fist-flying, high-kicking skills! The highlight of the evening saw the Force's very own Steve Heathcote smash three wooden boards with one mighty leap, before being soundly beaten by his even more talented wife Alison.

The aim of the event was also to raise money for international medical relief charity Medecins Sans Frontieres, and the Assistant Commissioner (Support), Mr Steve Chandler, was able to hand over a cheque to the MSF Regional Director on behalf of the POC and HYYLK for $37,000. Finally, the Guest of Honour, Mr Michael 'Stone' Wong, the actor famous for playing Special Duties Unit (SDU) characters, was presented with a souvenir on behalf of the organisers by Mr Barry 'Haddock' Smith, the SDU character famous for losing boxing matches.

Looking forward
