The 'Discipline Library' developed by Discipline Section came into operation in December 2002 and is now accessible online via Knowledge Management in Lotus Notes.

As a new initiative in Knowledge Management, Superintendent Discipline, Mr Steve Verralls, introduced the Library as a 'living database' designed for the sharing of useful information and knowledge amongst those involved in the adjudication and processing of disciplinary proceedings.

The Library contains current Force directives on discipline matters, the Quarterly Discipline Bulletin on concluded discipline cases, relevant Lines-to-Take, Headquarter Orders, Civil Service Regulations, useful legal advice and court judgments.

"We are pleased to note that the Library has been well received so far. By making use of the KM system, we hope the Discipline Library can help provide useful information and advice on discipline matters," said Mr Verralls.

"We will maintain the library as a dynamic database by uploading updated and relevant material on a regular basis. Discipline Section will inform users through the NoticeBoard of newly added or removed material from the Library," Mr Verralls added.

Mr Armen Lau Kit-man, SIP D R&D is responsible for updating the database content. He can be contacted at 2860-2410 (ip-sip-d-r-d-cm) for any enquiries on the Discipline Library.

For enquiries and comments on KM, please contact Ms Maggie Chan, the CIP ES SQ at 2866-6937 or cip-es-sq@police. gov.hk.
