Richard (Dick) Lidster passed away in Queen Elizabeth Hospital on March 25 following a long illness. He retired from the Regular Force in August 1994 at the rank of Chief Superintendent. Mr Lidster had a long association with the Auxiliary Police Force, having spent the last six years of his service as the (then) Chief Staff Officer, Auxiliary Headquarters. Subsequently, he became Manager of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Officers Mess (1997-2001). Mr Lidster is survived by his wife, Judy, son, Michael, and daughter, Suzanne. Friends and colleagues, both Regular and Auxiliary, joined his family to pay their last respects at the Hong Kong Funeral Home, on Sunday, April 6, and at St John's Cathedral on Monday, April 7, when a full service commemorating Richard's life was held.
