The third annual Disciplined Services Golf Tournament organised by the Hong Kong Police Golfing Society (HKPGS) was held at the South Course of the Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course on March 21.

More than 40 golfers from Correctional Services, Customs & Excise, Fire Services, Immigration and the Police competed for the Tsang Yam-pui Trophy in a Team-Stableford format.

Following a very competitive day that saw some very high standards of golfing, the team from the Fire Services emerged victors with most of their players recording under-par scores.

The Society was deeply honoured to have the Commissioner, Mr Tsang Yam-pui, to present prizes to the winners after the tournament. Mr Tsang was the driving force behind the inauguration of the tournament whilst he was the Chairman of the HKPGS, so it was most appropriate for him to present the trophy that he originally donated three years ago.

In addressing the competitors at the prize presentation ceremony, the Marine Regional Commander, Mr Cheung Chi-shum, who is also the Chairman of the HKPGS, praised all competitors for their sportsmanship and the great improvement in golfing skills since the tournament started three years ago.

For the record, the highest scoring golfer from the Police team was Gus Scott of Yuen Long District, a 6-handicapper who scored a gross 74 strokes for 37 stableford points. However, the highest scorer of the day was Fire Services Department's Mr Cheung Man-fai, who carded a gross score of 73 whilst playing off a 14 handicap, scoring an incredible 50 stableford points.
