PSG Round-table Forum convened |

In view of the outbreak of the SARS crisis, Psychological Services Group (PSG) convened a Round-table Forum on 'Positive Psychological Coping in a Major Community Crisis' on May 29 at the Central Library Lecture Theatre. This event was well received with over 140 Force members participating.
A panel of mental health experts from different sectors of the community shared their professional advice and valuable experience in coping with the SARS crisis. Renowned Psychiatrist Dr Chan Chung-mau, Social Welfare Department Chief Clinical Psychologist Mr Helios Lau, Hospital Authority Senior Clinical Psychologist Mrs Rosalie Kwong, and Lingnan University Associate Professor Dr Siu Oi-ling, together with the Police Clinical Psychologist Dr Edmond Lau gave their views on how to adopt positive psychological coping in face of the SARS outbreak from personal, organisational and community perspectives. Dr Chan pointed out different stages of emotion that members of the public may experience during a period of crisis. Mr Helios Lau shared his experience in educating the public to use positive thinking to cope with the threat from the SARS crisis. Mrs Rosalie Kwong introduced the work done by OASIS-Personal Crisis Management Centre for medical staff during the SARS outbreak.
