Grounded fishermen offered protection |
||
The two-month fishing ban for the South China Sea is in June and July. Marine East Division (MEDIV) organised an inter-departmental safety campaign for fishermen on May 23 that included presentations by Marine Department, Fire Services Department, and Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department. Later, at Sai Kung Typhoon Shelter, leaflets carrying "anti-crime, anti-fire and anti-typhoon" messages were distributed. MEDIV Commander, Mr Poon Tze-chung, gave assurances to the fishermen that the Force would step up enforcement actions in the Typhoon Shelter for crime prevention purposes throughout the period of the fishing ban.
