Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Mr Lo Yik-kee, speaking at a ceremony to praise Crime Wing officers' efforts in the battle against the SARS outbreak, said he was delighted that professionalism, investigation and analytical skills displayed by a total of 130 officers working in Crime Wing had succeeded in assisting the authorities concerned to contain the SARS problem.

"It is most encouraging to note that the reinforcement of the Major Incident Investigation and Disaster Support System (MIIDSS), which had made great achievements in the battle, will be considered as a tool in controlling other possible serious epidemic diseases in future," Mr Lo added.

At the ceremony, Mr Lo presented the Hong Kong SAR Government's 'Certificate of Appreciation to Staff Engaged in Combating Atypical Pneumonia Disease' to some 100 Crime Wing officers who had attended.

At the same event, another 40 officers were awarded long service medals.
