Sailing on the Su Hang wild side |

In August, Marine South Division organised three boat trips for more than 180 officers and family members. They sailed from Ma Liu Shui pier through the calm and beautiful waters of the Tolo Channel heading towards Tung Peng Chau Island. All passengers and crews were really impressed with the strange rocks and marine wild life with which the area abounded. Later, the boat set off for Crooked Island and it is a renowned fishing village where lunch had been arranged. After that, they visited the nearby rocky island of Ap Chau (Duck Island). The island actually resembles the shape of a duck - they could clearly make out the beak, eyes, head, neck and body of a 'duck' floating on the sea. On the way back to Ma Liu Shui, the boat travelled through Double Haven, an 'inner' sea encircled by Crooked Island, Crescent Island, Double Island and Plover Cove Country Park. This has always been a favourite area with the rich and famous. There are many lovely and deserted beaches and bays, and little islands are scattered across the calm and heavenly waters. Perhaps, this is why Double Haven is often referred to as the 'Su (Zhou) Hang (Zhou) of Hong Kong'!
